Dear visitor of the PeTiCantus website,
First of all we want to thank you for visiting our website.
Since we started PeTiCantus we noticed that musicminded people from all over the world are interested in our website. To explain what PeTiCantus means, what we’re doing and why we’re doing it, we decided to make an English intro.
We hope you like your stay on our website and will find the information you’re looking for.
PeTiCantus started in august 2005 by two Dutch “music enthusiastic” guys.
( Pe )ter Schaper born in Blokker, living in Zwaag, a place near Hoorn (and Amsterdam ) ,is busy and interested in music for many years. Visiting as many concerts as possible and also organized several events. He’s one of the initiators realising The Beatlesmonument in Blokker and organized the events arround this monument in the passed years.
( Ti )m Knol born in Hoorn and still living there is also very busy in music for a couple of years. Tim is having his own band ” The Tim Knol Band” and is visiting as much (or even more) concerts as Peter. He’s is also responsible for this website. Last year Christiaan Mulder, the owner of Het Huis Verloren, became a member of our foundation so we’re with the three of us now.
The word Cantus in PeTiCantus is a latin word and means music, now you know what PeTiCantus means. When you read it in a different way (Petit = french for small) it also means small music. This is also true, because the events we organize are very intimate. In the beautiful and characteristed old building “Het Huis Verloren” in Hoorn , we can welcome 100 musicminded people.
Also important to know is that PeTiCantus is a non-profit foundation. Our most important goal is to let the people, and the musicians, enjoy music without commercial intentions.
From the moment we started, we noticed that a lot of people where interested in our initiative. In october 2005 Kevn Kinney and Gibb Droll started off and we had an evening wich we’ll never forget (see and listen at our website!) Many other artists played at our venue in the last two years. Chatham County Line, Lynn Miles, Mark Erelli, Hayes Carll, Tim Easton to name a few.
In the following years many interesting and special events will take place in Hoorn at Het Huis Verloren. We know for sure that PeTiCantus is viable and Hoorn is going to be one of the places in the northern part of Holland where you go, when you want to hear music that’s made from the heart.
With musical regards,
Peter, Tim and Christiaan
